Overview

The unit is designed to provide an introduction to basic Chinese culture and language. Students will gain an overview of China and some basic language skills.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Describe current China's national conditions and business environment;
  2. Compare and contrast Chinese and Western cultures; and,
  3. Acquire the art of conversation, body language, business meetings and participate in meals.

Required reading

The course is based on the textbook, Experience Chinese-Business Communication in Chinese and exercise book. Lecture notes, selected articles and case studies will be provided by or referred to by lecturer. Students will receive a book loan from Victoria Business Confucius Institute if required.
