Overview

The unit is designed to provide an introduction to Chinese language with the emphasis on developing listening and speaking skills. In this unit, students will learn expressions used in different Business situations.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Utilise Chinese vocabulary and grammatical knowledge for sentence construction;
  2. Describe China's changing environment and current business practices;
  3. Read and write up to 150 Chinese words cumulatively; and,
  4. Role-play business conversation in different topics/scenarios.

Required reading

The course is based on the textbook, Experience Chinese-Business Communication in Chinese and exercise book. Lecture notes, selected articles and case studies will be provided by or referred to by lecturer. Students will receive a book loan from Victoria Business Confucius Institute if required.
