Overview

Project and Scholarship 2 will build on the research project design and proposal from Project and Scholarship 1 and allow the student to reflect on and defend their progress to date and intensively work on their research project going forward. This unit provides students with an opportunity to further develop their research skills by further analysing and planning their clinical-based research project, as well as focussing on the key project methodology. A key aspect of this unit will be that students will be able to work intensively with their educators and/or supervisors to progress their project such that they achieve a timely completion by Project and Scholarship 3. Students will also be required to defend their project progress as well as any changes to their previous proposal.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Critically reflect on the formulation and implementation of a clinical practice-based research project;
  2. Evaluate and critique different methodological processes for a clinical practice-based research question; and
  3. Appraise the chosen methodology and progress of the clinical practice-based research project.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

The first assessment task (individual) provides an opportunity for students to critically reflect on their research project formulation and implementation. The second assessment task (individual) allows students to explore their research methodology in detail to better inform their clinical-based research project. In the third assessment task, the students will appraise their project methodology and progress. This task assesses both group and individual contributions to the project and is evaluated by both the student group and by the teaching staff.
