Overview

This unit seeks to develop a student's capacity to become a researcher, allow them to apply specific knowledge in their chosen dermal science field and improve their employability skills. Students will work on an approved group research project and an independent project from the unit HBD4104 Independent Project and Group Research 1. While building teamwork skills, students must collect data according to appropriate research guidelines and then analyse the collected data using the appropriate research methodology. Students will write a minor thesis on their research findings or in a format ready for publication. Each student will also have the opportunity to showcase their self-management skills by presenting what they achieved in their independent project via a conference format presentation.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Formulate appropriate data collection methods to address research questions;
  2. Exemplify skills in data collection and the analysis and interpretation of research findings;
  3. Disseminate project outcomes; and
  4. Critically review literature relevant to research report.
