Overview

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan, conduct and present research using the internet within an organisational context.The unit applies to individuals who perform a range of routine tasks in the workplace, using a limited range of practical skills and fundamental knowledge of research in a defined context, under direct supervision or with limited individual responsibility.

Assessment

For Melbourne campuses

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce & extend knowledge and skill competence within set & controlled parameters in accordance with each units learning outcomes & performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:

  • on at least three occasions, plan, conduct, and present research on a work task using the internet.

Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge:

  • key elements of basic research methods
  • key functions of required applications
  • relevant organisational policies and procedures
  • key principles of documenting research.

Required reading

The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the VU Polytechnic and/or via the VU Polytechnic e-learning system.
