The aim of this unit is to introduce students to theoretical concepts relevant to working in organisational settings and to develop skills relevant to working within an organisational settings. Topics include organisational culture and structure, leadership, employee diversity and wellbeing, organisational ethics, diversity and wellbeing, organisational communication and change. The unit emphasises skills and knowledge for those who want to work in psychology, counselling, human resources and other organisational settings.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. Identify and synthesise information and literature about organisational processes;  
  2. Evaluate the development and implementation of skills relevant to working within organisations;  
  3. Reflect on and discuss learning experiences in organisational structures; and  
  4. Elaborate on academic concepts of organisational theory in the context of career planning for students.
