Master of Project Management

Janet Sawaya secured her dream job as a project manager after completing a Master of Project Management at Victoria University (VU).

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, and wanting to study in Melbourne, Janet chose VU on the recommendation from an education agent. "The quality of my degree is highly recognised, not only in Australia but around the world. Education agents acted as my guide to all things 'Australia' and they were confident VU would be a good fit. They were right!"

Having completed her studies at VU in 2018, Janet now works for Bendelta; a consulting company in Melbourne that aims to deliver positive and large-scale impact to the broader community, by providing services in organisational development, analytics and data insights and executive coaching.

"My ambition is to be part of something that changes lives for the better. Currently, I feel like I am in my dream job with Bendelta as they work with organisations, teams and individuals to enable them to reach their full potential."

Visits from industry professionals, as well as real-world style assignments at VU allowed Janet to feel ready to pursue her career in project management. "Assignments were designed around real projects and we made presentations to reputable professionals in Melbourne. This played a big role in exposing us to market and understanding its demands."

The friendly, supportive and welcoming environment, as well as the opportunity to develop leadership skills as a VU Vollies Team Leader, also helped prepare Janet for her new job. "The diversity of students at VU provided an ideal opportunity to learn about inclusion and collaborating with others. It is rewarding to be able to apply this learning to my job at Bendelta."
