Twins Dorothy and Katherine Tsirmbas share a passion for the law and a determination to succeed.
"We set a high standard for each other which was a great motivator while we were studying,” says Dorothy.
“VU’s real industry learning helped us gain the confidence and networks to make it in this competitive job market.
In my final year at VU I was awarded a graduate position with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), which led to a permanent role as a senior analyst. My double qualification in business and law allows me to analyse my portfolio of institutions, while assessing risks and ensuring compliance with regulations,” she says.
Dorothy recently completed a Master of Risk Management at Monash University.
Katherine’s qualifications and experience led to her current position as a lawyer with Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
“After completing a graduate program at Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu Limited, I worked as a commercial solicitor at law firm Logie-Smith Lanyon, specialising in taxation. I then completed my Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne,” she says.
“My current role at ASIC involves assessing complex and sensitive misconduct and breach reports, ensuring that Australia’s financial markets are complying with their legal obligations to operate with fair, orderly and transparent practices.”
“We really enjoyed the close-knit culture and support from lecturers at VU, which has helped us grow and succeed in our studies, and subsequently our careers."
