Kim Hickey completed a Certificate IV in Logistics and Supply Chain Principles, Diploma of Logistics Management and Bachelor of Business (Global Logistics and Transport).
Workplace learning: Kagan Logistics; ANL Container Lines.
"The supply chain is such a broad field, so it helps that VU's lecturers have extensive industry backgrounds to effectively mentor their students.
During my Certificate IV, I did two weeks' work experience at Kagan Logistics and they offered me my first full-time job as a customer service representative.
I completed my co-op year (workplace learning) as a commercial coordinator at ANL Container Lines. My role included administration of port statistics, trade reports, marketing analysis and statistical studies. ANL has since employed me full-time as a logistics officer.
I now plan to study my masters in supply chain at VU. I already have a research project in mind for my thesis: to look at ways of establishing and restoring the logistics and infrastructure in Chile after the devastating 2010 earthquakes.
One day I would like to apply all my skills and knowledge as a lecturer in logistics at VU."
