After choosing Victoria University (VU) for the Business degree's diverse majors, Kris Bondin developed leadership skills through his practical placement and as a student mentor. Since graduating, he has ‘put himself out there’ and his career has soared.
“VU’s Business degree made it possible for me to specialise in two industry segments I was interested in: accounting, and banking and finance.
VU is supportive of students like me who want to achieve over-and-above, as well as those who need extra help to succeed. During my final year, I mentored first-year accounting students which allowed me to give back to students who needed that additional support.
My first link to success was working full-time as part of my studies for Bill Shorten (then the Federal Opposition Leader) at the Australian Workers’ Union. It gave me a taste of the real world before I finished my degree.
After graduating, I gained experience in the world of corporate finance and personal money management. However, I sought further challenges even after working as finance manager for the retail sales division of a Tier 1 energy company.
I put myself out in the media and shared my finance knowledge through a regular position on commercial radio and TV, which helped me grow my personal brand.
I also accepted the challenge of helping create two start-up businesses, which gave me invaluable experience.
Three years ago, I joined Movinghub, an innovative utility connection technology company, as a general manager. I was quickly promoted to Australian CEO, and I’m really looking forward to leading the organisation into international growth.”
