From Macedonia to Melbourne

A family endorsement led Vladimir Janev on the path to success at Victoria University (VU).

"My cousin studied at VU so she told me about the advantages of VU, and now here I am," Vladimir, of Macedonia, says.
"I also heard that Melbourne is the most liveable city in the world so I wanted to experience something different from Europe, which is another reason why I chose Australia," he says.

Vladimir is studying English for Academic Purposes at VU English, the University’s English language centre, thereby enabling him to enter the Master of Supply Chain Management upon completion of the course.

Since studying with VU English, Vladimir says he has improved his English speaking, writing, reading and listening skills.

"I have met many international students as well as native speakers and I have improved my English writing and speaking skills a lot.
"I have also increased my knowledge of academic writing, which I think will be very important for my masters degree."

Of VU’s many drawcards, Vladimir says he particularly enjoys the library and the central location of VU’s City Flinders Campus, where VU English is based.

"The library provides different books which will be necessary for my future research, and the computers have very fast internet speeds.
"I also like the City Flinders Campus because it’s in the centre of Melbourne and there a lot of social activities to be seen and experienced nearby."

His advice for prospective international students is simple: "Go for it and don’t miss the opportunity."
