Elias Assaf completed a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management).
Workplace learning: Youth Voice Committee, Hobsons Bay Council.
"I volunteered for the Youth Voice Committee at Hobsons Bay Council as part of my VU Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program. The Committee co-ordinates and determines how grants are used for local youth projects in Hobsons Bay.
VU places an emphasis on learning in the workplace, which gives students valuable real-world experience in order to remain competitive in today's unpredictable business environment.
During my placement I put into practice the key human resource management theories I had learned in the classroom. I helped manage events, worked with budgets and co-ordinated the grant application process for a youth project.
My experience getting involved with the community gave me the competitive edge during the selection process for a graduate position.
The best thing about my Human Resource Management degree was the opportunity to discuss theories in a nurturing environment.
I have since secured a human resource graduate position with the National Australia Bank."
