Home away from home
I really enjoy the course because it’s very practical and hands-on.
Sultan Bin Rubayan (Saudi Arabia)
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Architectural Engineering)
“The chance of a lifetime” are the words Sultan Bin Rubayan uses to describe the moment he received a prestigious scholarship from the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission.
“I was awarded the scholarship before I went to Australia – I didn’t have to worry about anything because it was all organised for me. It’s the chance of a lifetime,” he says.
“I really enjoy the course because it’s very practical and hands-on. We use AutoCAD to design in 2D and 3D, and we also study mathematics.”
Sultan, who is studying the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Architectural Engineering), says he chose VU because it is one of just a few Australian universities offering a specialisation in architectural engineering.
Hoping to obtain a post-study work visa after his degree to gain experience in Australia, Sultan says the best part about studying and living abroad is the culture and lifestyle.
“For me, I feel like Australia is my second home. As an international student, my advice is to live your life and enjoy every minute.”
