Eye on the ball

Alice Sweeting’s doctoral research is helping give the Australian netball team the edge.

"I chose Victoria University because of its partnerships with elite sporting organisations, and the development of its world-class sport and exercise science facilities.

I was also attracted to VU’s Portfolio Partnership Program – which allowed me to apply for my course based on a range of criteria including the work I had done in the community – and not just my ATAR.

I did my undergraduate cadetship and work placement with VU industry partners the Western Bulldogs and Netball Australia – both invaluable experiences for my career and further studies.

I have continued to further my studies at VU by undertaking my PhD. My research looks at using indoor player technology to give our netballers the edge in collaboration with the AIS and Netball Australia. The research has already received some exciting recognition in the press."
