Entry requirements

Victoria University (VU) can offer you a place as an international student in a course if you meet the academic requirements, English language requirements and in some cases additional (or supplementary) entry requirements.

To be eligible to apply as an international student  for a Victoria University course you must provide proof that you meet the academic requirements for your course.

Academic requirements for international students are outlined on each individual course page. We will assess your eligibility when we receive your complete application.

As an international applicant, you will need to demonstrate that you have met the required level of English language proficiency.

You will need to provide evidence that you have achieved the following levels of English Language proficiency.

Recognition of prior English language studies

If you have completed a qualification where English was the primary language of instruction, you may be eligible for an English language exemption.

Bachelor degrees

Academic entry requirements

Entry into undergraduate courses (e.g. bachelor degree) generally requires you to have completed a secondary school qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 12.

Research programs

Academic entry requirements

Entry into a research program requires completion of:

  • an honours degree, or
  • a masters degree by coursework with a research component, or
  • an equivalent qualification from an approved university.

Exchange and study abroad students

To apply for the study abroad or exchange program, you are expected to have achieved an average of 65% or 2.5 grade point average (on a scale of 4 or equivalent) in your studies.

Additional or supplementary entry requirements

In some cases courses will require additional proof of qualification for entry to a VU course. You may need to provide information such as:

  • proof of work experience
  • a portfolio or folio of works
  • a police check or working with children check from your usual country of residence
  • a supplementary information form
