The Chancellor, Mr George Pappas AO, supports a scholarship for a student of Greek descent to attend Victoria University.

Mr Pappas is proud of his Greek heritage. He treasures his association with the island of Rhodes, where he was born, and the island of Kastellorizo, where his mother was born.

In 2015, Mr Pappas was honoured as the Kastellorizian of the Year by the Kastellorizian Association of Victoria. In accepting the award, Mr Pappas acknowledged the tremendous debt he owes to his parents, Panayiota and Stamati, who left their home and their friends to travel halfway around the world in order to give their children the opportunity to transform their lives.

Mr Pappas made his decision to establish the new scholarship as a way of giving something back to the Greek community, to honour his parents and to provide others with the opportunity to further their education.

The scholarship is for students of Greek descent undertaking an undergraduate degree for the first time.
