About Zali Yager

Dr Zali Yager's expertise revolves around the promotion of positive body image, and strengths-based approaches to promoting physical activity and wellbeing in school, community, and online settings.

She is particularly passionate about determining the best ways to promote healthy lifestyle behaviours in children, adolescents, and adults without having a negative impact on mental and psychological health, and using disruptive innovation to enhance health outcomes.

Dr Yager has 32 publications, including co-authorship of her book Adolescence and Body Image: From Development to preventing dissatisfaction with Professor Lina Ricciardelli in 2015.

Zali has been on research teams in receipt of  more than AU$1 million funding (World Anti-Doping Association Social Science Research Grant, EU Funding, local, state, and national competitive government grants and tenders). Her Google Scholar h-index is 16 and she has more than 1019 citations of her work. 

Dr Yager presents at international and national conferences and has been invited to speak at public lectures, and training workshops and conferences for teachers, dieticians, and other health professionals.

She is currently serving on two editorial boards:Performance Enhancement and Health, and Body Image.

Teaching activities & experience

Dr Yager is an expert in university teaching and learning, and curriculum renewal. Zali has taught a wide range of health and physical education focused units in the Bachelor of Education and Master of Education (Secondary) at VU. She is not presently engaged in any teaching activities.
