About Shuo Chen

Dr Shuo Chen is a lecturer in building surveying at Victoria University. She is also an engineering consultant in green HVAC design. She has a broad range of research experiences in green building design, construction management, with a special interest in green building construction, supported by digitalized engineering and life cycle assessment.

Shuo developed a life cycle assessment for evaluating the carbon emissions of typical HVAC systems. Afterward, Shuo identified the key performance attributes and the critical success factors in HVAC retrofitting, and developed a toolkit which comprised strategies, decision-making methods, and major retrofitting activities. Also, she has been working on the development of a smart building platform to monitor building energy use.

Shuo has participated in a number of research projects including industry-sponsored projects, with collaborators across industry, governments, and universities in Australia and overseas. She has demonstrated a proven track record of accomplishment in the research and publication of high-quality journals, contributing to research projects.
