About Nicole Oke

Nicole's research focuses on the themes of work, globalisation and multiculturalism.

She researches, from a sociological perspective, social dynamics that contribute to structural inequalities around work. She is especially interested in racialisation in Australia and the global inequalities between nation-states that shape work globally.

These themes underpin the projects that Nicole is working on. The focus of one project is the engagement of nation-states across the commodity chains of mining companies. Her other main project focuses on precarious employment in Footscray, a rapidly gentrifying suburb of Melbourne.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Philosophy, (Sociology), La Trobe University
  • Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Monash University
