About Mahmood Rashid

Dr Mahmood Rashid is a Research Officer at the Institute for Sustainable Industries and Liveable Cities of Victoria University. He is also an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems, Griffith University, since July 2014.

He worked as Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji (Oct 2015 - Nov 2018). He was also a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMassd) , Massachusetts, USA (Oct 2014 - Oct 2015).

Mahmood received his PhD degree in computer science from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia in 2014 majoring in Artificial Intelligence under the supervision of Professor Abdul Satter. He was a Graduate Researcher at NICTA (now data61) during his PhD candidature. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Computer Science degrees from Bangladesh.

Prior to pursuing his PhD, he spent several years in the information technology industries as an IT specialist (2000 – 2009). As an IT Team Manager (Consultant) of Maxwell Stamp PLC, UK, he worked in a multi-million dollar project (RIRA Project) — jointly funded by the World Bank and the Department for International Development (DFID) to reform the National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh.
