About Liza Heslop
Over the last decade, Liza’s research and teaching has focused on improving nursing care delivery through advancing the measurement of nursing care quality as patient outcomes.
Liza is nationally recognised for expertise in health policy and systems and has served for seven years on the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority - a Commonwealth statutory committee that provides independent and transparent advice in relation to funding for public hospitals.
In the field of workforce reform, her research concerns multi-disciplinary approaches to care coordination to support high end users of the health system.
Currently Liza is part of a team that is developing and testing a clinical decision support tool for use by clinicians at the bedside to improve nutritional care processes and help prevent hospital-acquired malnutrition (with Western Health and St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne).
From 2019, Liza has been an academic editor for PLOS ONE and is involved in overseeing processes for evaluating research on the basis of scientific validity, rigorous methodology, and high ethical standards, with the aim of making all well-conducted research freely available.
