About Andrew Antiohos
Dr Andrew Antiohos is currently working as a Teaching Focused Academic of Mechanical Engineering within the College of Sport, Health and Engineering. His research interests are in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), computational design and analysis, biomechanics engineering, learning and teaching in STEM courses.
Andrew completed a BEng(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with first class honours from Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia. He was awarded the top student prize in mechanical engineering for each year of his undergraduate degree. Once graduated, he worked in the industry as a design engineer, with experience in fluid dynamics, hydraulics and computational design and analysis. He was handed an industry award in leadership, creativity and innovation for his role in a major international project.
He received his PhD from Victoria University in 2015. His PhD research involved the investigation of a passive flow controller to mitigate the deleterious effects of turbulence and vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) through the use of biomimicry.
