Engineered to succeed

I chose VU because they have a world-leading research group in Engineered Packaging and Distribution.

Julien Lepine
Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering)

Julien Lepine’s research into transport vehicle vibration at VU caught the eye of University of Cambridge, where he’s recently been offered a postdoctoral fellowship.

"I’m from the French part of Canada (Québec) and I studied Mechanical Engineering there at the Université de Sherbrooke. I won several awards and prizes during my bachelor and masters degrees for my outstanding academic and research records. At the onset of my PhD I was awarded two scholarships – one from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and a second from Victoria University. This allowed me to move to Australia with my wife, and we ended up having our daughter here.

I chose VU because they have a world-leading research group in Engineered Packaging and Distribution. The group specialises in environmental and distribution hazards and optimised protective packaging. Specifically, their research around transport vehicle vibration was aligned with my previous research experience. The high standard of research and staff expertise made VU the perfect choice for me to pursue a PhD on the topic.

Recently, I was offered a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge in the UK to continue my research. VU contributed to my success by giving me access to high-quality research support. In particular, my PhD supervision has been excellent. It’s the reason I have been able to extend my research to the standard sought after by international top-tier universities.”
