Discover the exciting variety of research at Victoria University during its first Research Festival from 26 to 30 October.
Hear from academics and a line-up of the University’s brightest up-and-coming research students as they highlight their practical, life-changing research.
An initiative of the Office for Research, the festival will showcase the diverse range of the University’s industry-led research.
Director of the Office for Research, Donna Hannan, said the VU Research Festival is a great way to find out more about the innovative and creative research across the University’s Institutes, Centres and Colleges.
“It is a major opportunity for us to highlight the really practical research that goes on here and to celebrate our researchers and their work,” she said.
“The theme of the festival is ‘Research with Impact’ because it celebrates and demonstrates the value and immediate application of our research which we want to share with the public and industry.”
The week-long festival will feature lively presentations, academic workshops, public seminars and forums.
A keynote event is the VU Research Symposium – to be held on Thursday 29 October – featuring the chief executive officer of the Australian Research Council, Professor Aidan Byrne, as a guest speaker.
Professor Byrne, known globally for his innovative research into nuclear structure, has been CEO of the ARC since mid-2012.
The symposium will bring together academics and their industry partners to talk about the real-life impact of their research.
