Overhaul of international drug control needed

Professor Bob Stewart is available to comment on the Report into widespread doping allegations issued by the WADA Independent Commission.

Professor Stewart can offer expert, evidence-based advice demonstrating why current international drug-control policies are not working.

He can also comment broadly on the problems surrounding the regulation of substance use in sport.

Professor Stewart argues for a radical overhaul of the current international drug-control arrangements, saying, ‘they are just not working.’

“In their current form, the controls encourage dishonest, deceitful and corrupt behaviour. They have not led to any reduction in doping,” Professor Stewart said.

Professor Stewart co-authored the book Rethinking Drug Use in Sport: Why the war will never be won, which was published last year by Routledge.

Professor Stewart is available for television, radio and background interviews.
