Lynne Kosky to receive honourary degree from VU

Victoria University will confer an honorary degree upon former state government minister and long-time western suburbs resident, The Honourable Lynne Kosky, on Wednesday 1 December 2010.

Ms Kosky represented the Altona electorate for more than 14 years and served as a minister for 10 years in successive state governments until her retirement earlier this year. She will receive her Doctorate of the University, Honoris Causa, at a graduation ceremony at Flemington Racecourse.

Ms Kosky is being honoured for her distinguished service to the State of Victoria through her community work and her subsequent political career, as well as her leadership and contributions to educational reform, particularly in the TAFE and school sectors.

When: From 2.20 pm Wednesday 1 December (Gowning)

Ms Kosky will be available for interview between 2.20-2.30pm. Academic gowning will take place at 2.35pm, with photo opportunities available immediately after.  

Formal conferral ceremony commences at 3pm in The Atrium, where a media splitter box will be available.
