Chinese medicine study seeks participants

A Victoria University researcher is seeking participants between the ages of 40 to 70 for a study examining the benefits of Chinese therapeutic foods in lowering cholesterol.

The study will look at the effectiveness of Hawthorn fruit and Chinese kiwi fruit extract, foods that are commonly used in Chinese medicine to regulate cholesterol.

Participants will be required to consume the extract as a powder for an eight-week period, and to provide blood samples. They must be diagnosed with moderately high cholesterol.

During the trial, participants will receive Chinese Medicine general health assessments.
