Australian rules women

The VU Western Spurs are a proud women's football club competing in the Victorian Women's Football League with three teams including an under 12s, youth and senior team. Women of all ages and abilities are welcomed to the club for the 2016 season and for further beyond.

The Newport Baseball Club was established in 1928 and is a Division 1 club. It has a rich history of great players, characters and impressive results achieved over many years. The club also has many individual player achievements at all age groups in various representative sides.

So whether you are a current member, previous member or potential new member, come down to the RAM-DOME and take the field or just enjoy being part of our great club.

The club is also actively in assisting with VU’s representation in the Baseball competition at the Australian University Games.

The VU Vipers Cheerleading club meet three times weekly for competitive cheer training on Mondays and Wednesdays (7am - 8.45am) and competitive dance training on Fridays (7am - 8.45am) in E111 at the Footscray Park Campus.

As current reigning champions of the Southern University Games, the Vipers are preparing teams to compete to defend their title. These teams will also compete to win state and national championships against the other universities in Australia.

If you love acrobatics, tumbling, stunting, dancing, getting fit and enjoy a great team spirit this is for you!

Flemington Cricket Club a short distance from the VU Footscray Park and City campuses offers four senior sides (VTCA) that all play on turf wickets at Newmarket Reserve (corner of Racecourse Road and Epsom Road, behind the bowls club) and Walter Street reserve in Ascot Vale catering for the serious and the social cricketer. The club has its own clubhouse, training facilities and playing ovals and enjoys a multicultural and inclusive environment with low membership fees and student discount.

The club is also actively in assisting with VU’s representation in the T20 Cricket competition at the Australian University Games.

The Western Crusaders are an American Football club located at the Henry Turner Reserve South, behind VU’s Footscray Park campus.

The club has men’s, women’s and junior teams and welcome all new players. The club has also benefitted from experienced players coming from USA, Japan, UK, NZ, Samoa, Tonga, Italy and other backgrounds.

Werribee Hockey Club

We has a strong affiliation with Werribee Hockey Club. The Club is situated in a key growth corridor of the Wyndham area a short distance from the University's Werribee campus and has four senior men's, four senior women's and 11 junior teams, totalling more than 300 playing and social members.

Footscray Hockey Club

Footscray Hockey Club is ten minutes from the Footscray Campus is one of 12 Premier League Clubs in Melbourne. Established in 1934, it has over 600 members and 45 teams, fielding nine men's, nine women's, six masters and 21 junior teams. There are two superb pitches, a large pavilion and a very welcoming and social environment.

Lawn bowls

The Footscray Park Lawn Bowls club is a friendly lawns bowls club in Footscray, inner west Melbourne. It is conveniently located just steps away from the Victoria University Footscray Park Campus.

All students and staff are welcome; serious or social bowlers, and those just looking for fun with social barefoot bowls every Thursday from 5pm – 7pm.

The VU Vultures Netball Club is based at the Victoria University Community Sports Stadium at VU Whitten Oval in Footscray.

Our teams compete in the Parkville Netball Association Competition at the State Netball Centre.

Premier League Open - Tuesday nights

The club trains on Sundays 3-6pm at the Victoria University Community Sports Stadium with some Monday training held for open divisions.

Rugby union club

We have an affiliation with Footscray Rugby Union Club based at the rear of the VU Footscray Park campus.

The club has a long history supporting men's in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and even 4th grade and also has women's, colts and junior teams. The club welcomes any new players whether experienced or novice.

Soccer (women's)

Maribyrnong Swifts Football Club is a women's soccer club with two teams in the FFV State League. Training is held from 7 - 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from February to September at our home ground located at Johnson Reserve, Essex Street, West Footscray. The club welcomes players of all abilities – from beginners through to experienced players.

Touch football

The Victoria University Touch Football Club formed from the enthusiastic women and men competing at Southern and Australian University Games over a number of years.

If you are looking for regular community competition, our mixed team has been competing in local leagues rotating players through the ranks. The club is looking to boost members through the formation of men's, mixed and women's teams to compete in club competition and University Games.

VU Volleyball Club participates in the Victorian Volleyball League, we have a Women's Premier team and a Men's Division 2 team in State League. If you would like to train, play and compete in this great sport, we are seeking players to participate in these teams or create even more teams to enter in other divisions in the league.

Teams play every Saturday at the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong.
