Overview

Learn the entry-level skills and knowledge necessary to gain employment in the civil construction industry on a range of major infrastructure and civil construction projects. This course will help prepare you for work across a range of roles in the industry, including labouring, traffic management and plant operations.

Short course dates and times: 
28 October – 22 November 2019 8am–4pm Mon - Thurs
25 November – 19 December 2019 8am–4pm Mon - Thurs

You will learn how to:

  • prepare to work safely in the construction industry
  • provide first aid
  • plan and organise work
  • identify, locate and protect underground services
  • carry out manual excavation
  • communicate in the workplace
  • use hand tools and power tools
  • operate small plants and equipment
  • control traffic with stop-slow bat
  • implement traffic-management plans.

All skill sets under this program include training in Construction Induction (White Card), a mandatory requirement for anyone working in the construction industry.

This course is government subsidised for eligible students.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABK Skills Uplift in Civil Construction, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

This course will help prepare you for work across a range of roles in the industry, including labouring, traffic management and plant operations. Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Applicants must be referred to this course from a Skills and Jobs Centre or Jobs Victoria Employment Network provider and be either an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
