Develop the essential skills and training to effectively operate an excavator with this short course at VU Polytechnic.

Containing a nationally recognised unit, this course will provide you with the specialised training in excavator operations on large construction sites and when undertaking infrastructure projects.

You will gain skills in:

  • prestart checks and shutdown procedures
  • driving and operating the equipment according to on-site conditions
  • applying safe work practices and reporting any hazards or risks
  • selecting and using appropriate tools.

At the successful completion of this training, you will be issued with the nationally recognised unit of competency in RIIMPO320E Conduct civil construction excavator operations.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency, within the VET Non-Award Course TNAAM Introduction to Civil Construction Excavator Operations, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNIT

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

Develop the essential skills in excavator operations in order to work on large scale construction sites and infrastructure projects in the booming construction industry. You will gain hands-on experience in driving and operating equipment correctly, pre-start checks and shutdown procedures as well as tool selection and safe work practices.

At the successful completion of this training, you will be issued with the nationally recognised unit of competency in RIIMPO320E Conduct civil construction excavator operations.

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.
