Overview

Are you interested in pursuing recruitment with Victoria Police?

The Course in Policing Recruitment Pathway is intended to support you in managing an extended law enforcement recruitment process.

It will provide you with essential skills to communicate effectively in diverse situations, and manage your own well being. You will develop knowledge of:

  • the policing environment and its broad legal and ethical framework
  • techniques to meet and maintain required fitness and swimming standards
  • strategies to support personal well being
  • English-language vocabulary and grammar to the level required for entry into Victoria Police or Protective Services Officer training
  • mathematical language and operations to a level required for entry into Victoria Police or Protective Services Officer training
  • communication techniques to support verbal reasoning and non-verbal communication
  • examination strategies.

You will also develop skills to the standard require by the recruitment process in:

  • physical fitness and swimming
  • verbal and written communication
  • numeracy.

Completion of this course does not result in acceptance to the Victoria Police Academy. There are additional requirements that are determined and assessed by Victoria Police. See more information on the Police recruitment process.

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment, for 22512VIC Course in Policing Recruitment Pathway, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNITS

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

You will develop knowledge of:

  • the policing environment and its broad legal and ethical framework;

  • strategies to support personal well being;
  • English language vocabulary and grammar to the level required for entry into Victoria Police or Protective Services Officer training;

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Applicants are best equipped to successfully undertake this course if they have minimum language, literacy and numeracy skills that align to Level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF).

Applicants should have an interest in pursuing recruitment with Victoria Police and must be referred to the Polytechnic by Jesuit Social Services.
