About Terry DeLacy
Terry DeLacy's research area is in sustainable tourism.
Most recently he has led a research group investigating how tourism destinations can transform into the emerging green economy. Terry has:
- authored 2 recent books on the topic
- led projects in Australia, Pacific Islands, Indonesia, China, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Egypt, and Tanzania
- supervised 15 Phd students on specific topics in this research area
- and published numerous journal articles, book chapters and technical reports on research outcomes from the projects.
Before joining Victoria University in 2008, Terry was for 10 years the director and chief executive of the Australian National Cooperative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism, which was at the time the largest tourism academic research institute in the world.
In the 1990s Terry was professor of environmental policy and dean of the agricultural and natural resources faculty at the University of Queensland in Australia. Over his career Terry has supervised approximately 60 PhD students.
