Nominations for the Alumni Awards 2020 are now closed.

Thank you to everyone who placed a nomination and shares in our belief the importance of celebrating the achievements of our VU graduates. We have received a record of over 130 nominations which means we now know of so many more incredible alumni who are achieving extraordinary things.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the finalists on Friday 2 October

This year, all Alumni Awards finalists will automatically be in the running for the Spirit of VU Alumni Award. For the first time ever, it will be the people's choice to determine the winner.

You can vote for who you believe best embodies the VU ethos. Voting is open from Monday 5 to Thursday 15 October via the Alumni Awards webpage.

All award winners will be announced at the Alumni Awards online celebration on Thursday 22 October. We will be going live at 6pm, on the VU Alumni Facebook page.

  • Any member of the VU community, including alumni, staff, students, industry partners, community partners and friends of VU may nominate an individual for a VU Alumni Award.
  • If you know an eligible alum who is deserving of an award, but you don’t have access to the required information and supporting evidence, you can refer a nominee for an alumni award instead of using the nomination form.

  • All nominees must be a VU graduate and meet the criteria for the award they are nominated for.
  • Self-nomination is permitted.
  • Past nominees are eligible to be nominated for any award category.
  • An individual may only be nominated for one award category each year.
  • VU is committed to gender equality and strongly encourages the nomination of women and gender diverse people as they are traditionally under-represented in award programs.

Please note

  1. There will only be one winner selected for each award category.
  2. A nomination is not a guarantee of selection for an award. The selection panel may choose not to make a recommendation for award in any category.
  3. VU reserves the right to not grant awards in any given year.
  4. All recommendations of the selection panel endorsed by the Vice-Chancellor are final.

What happens next?

An awards selection panel will be assembled with senior members of the VU community.

The selection panel will rank nominations based on how well they demonstrate the nominee’s eligibility for the award they have been nominated for.

The panel will then make recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor for endorsement.
