VU students in Nice accounted for and safe

Victoria University is deeply saddened by the tragic events in Nice, France, and our thoughts go out to all who have been affected.

Our 20 students and one staff member who are currently at a start-up school at the European Innovation Academy in Nice have been accounted for and are safe.

Victoria University Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Peter Dawkins, said around the clock confidential counselling and wellbeing support has been offered to all students.

“We continue to keep in touch with them and understand that this is a distressing and uncertain time,” Professor Dawkins said.

“Our hearts go out to the people of France, especially the family and friends of our students.”

The VU undergraduate and postgraduate students are taking part in a 15-day intensive summer program at the Academy with 500 students from other countries.
