Victoria University in collaboration with enterprise software corporation SAP is launching Australia’s first SAP Next-Gen Lab, which will create vital connections between students and industry, as well as building the digital skills needed to solve 21st-century business problems.
Situated in the heart of Melbourne at VU’s City Flinders Campus, the SAP Next-Gen Lab is a relaxed space designed to encourage collaboration and innovation, where VU’s Master of Business students can draw on SAP’s capabilities and the latest technology.
SAP Leonardo – SAP’s digital innovation portfolio of the latest technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Blockchain and Big Data – will underpin the work carried out by the students in the Next-Gen Lab.
Already a world-leading institution in Enterprise Resource Planning systems education, the Next-Gen Lab confirms VU’s global reputation as a university that prepares and delivers industry-ready graduates.
Proven successful in universities across China, the UK, Germany and the US, the SAP Lab will:
- connect companies recruiting next-generation leaders with students and graduates who have specific digital-transformation knowledge and skills
- showcase startups with corporations seeking to seed disruptive innovation
- enable students to work on SAP Next-Gen projects with industry partners, including SAP customers.
“We are delighted and honoured that the first SAP Next-Gen Lab will be based at VU. This is yet another opportunity to build on our ongoing partnership for the benefit of our students. VU graduates will have unique skills and industry connections that will make them stand out to business and technology providers.”

Ms The Su Soe — VU alumna, Master of Business, Victoria University
“I could not think of a more appropriate institution with which we launch our first Next-Gen Lab here in Australia. What excites me most about VU is its mission to be a great university of the 21st century, underpinned by personalised, flexible and industry-relevant learning opportunities.
“By opening new channels for VU students to share and collaborate with other thought leaders in academia and industry, this partnership provides the opportunity for them to harness the technologies and innovation driving the digital transformation of industries today."
