Reducing family violence: a whole of community research approach This event will bring together representatives from all facets of the community, including politics, sports, health and survivors of family violence. Family violence has horrendous consequences on the individual, family groups and the community as a whole. In 2016, one in four families will experience family violence. Reducing this number is a whole of community responsibility. Victoria University researchers will showcase their research in the area, whilst community representatives will discuss how they are approaching the problem of family violence. The event aims to provide a forum for community discussion, leading to the identification of collaborative research problems for future researchers. Open to all. RSVP to [email protected] Where: City Convention Centre, Flinders Street. |
Friday 21 October 1:30pm - 4pm |
Round table on working with narrative inquiry We make sense of life by telling stories but every story holds and hides other stories, not told. The skill and craft of narrative research is to go beyond that which is told and into the complexity that gives birth to the telling. In this afternoon forum of presentation and discussion on and around narrative research, we will explore some of the narrative studies undertaken by VU researchers and look at the different ways in which they honour the story, but also go beyond it. Open to VU staff and students. Where: Footscray Park Campus, P Building, Room P134. |
Friday 21 October 4pm - 7pm |
Forging strong partnerships between industry & academia The activity will bring together five industry bodies & associations, and VU researchers in an attempt to forge strong partnerships between industry and academia. Invited presenters will highlight recent developments and challenges in their industries. The presentations will provide a great opportunity for attendees to understand some of the latest research and development needs in a range of industries including the electricity, water, integrative medicine, red meat processing, and environmental safety sectors. Further, the activity will enable participating researchers to comprehend and identify research funding opportunities in these sectors. Open to all. Where: City Flinders Campus, Room FS1101. |
