StreetShot 2018 Exhibition presented by Hepatitis Victoria
This event has already taken place.
StreetShot – an annual photographic and video competition for young people in Victoria – is once again exhibiting at VU at MetroWest.
Now in its eighth year, Hepatitis Victoria’s StreetShot is a unique way of inviting young people to share, through their own creativity, what they understand about viral hepatitis – a silent killer that currently affects more than 120,000 Victorians per year.
The StreetShot program includes interactive education sessions where participants learn about risk factors for viral hepatitis and how they can keep themselves safe.
Participants then collaborate on a creative photography or video project to visually represent their understanding of viral hepatitis and to communicate what they think other young people need to know.
About the artists
The pieces exhibited in 2018 were devised in 35 education sessions by 496 students from across Victoria.
A group of these students have collaborated with Indigenous Hip Hop Projects and the Korin Gamadji Institute on a special video project to be unveiled at the exhibition launch.
Indigenous Hip Hop Projects is a unique team of artists who work extensively in Indigenous communities around Australia. The Korin Gamadji Institute is an educational and training facility that supports and incubates leadership and employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
