One Night in Footscray
This event has already taken place.
This November you can spend ‘One Night in Footscray’. Discover the galleries, venues and hidden in-between spaces of Footscray's cultural hub.
Following on from a blockbuster debut in 2017, this year’s One Night in Footscray will raise the bar with a free and accessible program of vivid installations, musical performance, enlightening exhibitions and a walking food degustation.
Designed as a self-guided twilight journey through central Footscray, you will be able to view and engage in a wide variety of high-quality art experiences across different mediums and unexpected locations – all on one night.
2018 program highlights
- Negai (A wish for Footscray) – an interactive installation featuring thousands of folded paper cranes.
- Snuff Skool – the team behind west-side icons Snuff Puppets have trained a new squad of rookie roamers who will perform for the public for the very first time.
- Pump up the Jam – Alejandra Diaz Garcia’s pop-up dancefloor makes a welcome return to Nicholson Street Bridge.
- Footscray Family Portrait – bring the family, your best mate, your fur child or come on your own and have your portrait taken by photographer Jody Haines in a makeshift pop-up photo studio.
- Poetry of Pointlessness – artist/techno-mancer Matto Lucas wanders the streets of Footscray, conjuring pointless poems based solely on your name.
- Four, That Player – Trugo is back, and the Footscray Trugo Club will be at Footscray Station to teach new players the ropes of this unique western suburbs game.
- Taste your way through Footscray with a walking degustation, featuring 8 local restaurants.
