Tuesday 12 May 2015

Join Age crime journalist John Silvester for an in-depth discussion about being an investigative reporter.

The discussion is presented by VU's Professional Writing & Editing courses as part of its In Conversation with... series with Australia's best writers and artists (previously known as Rotunda in the West).

Our first "In conversation with..." features John Silvester, Co-writer of the 14 Underbelly books with Andrew Rule, plus LeadBelly, Rats and Tough: 101 Australian Gangsters. John is an Age crime journalist since 1993, winner of a Walkley award, three Quills, a Ned Kelly award for true crime writing and three Victorian Law awards.

He's also the writer of the Saturday Age column The Naked City, and regular guest on 3AW as ‘Sly of the Underworld’.

Come and listen to John speak about being an investigative reporter who’s written about the gangland wars, the Purana taskforce, the investigations into many murders and contract killings, and more. He may even show us his Christmas card from Chopper Read! And what does he really think about the TV series?

It promises to be an evening with a difference.
