If you have some children’s books gathering dust, or your kids have grown out of their favourite stories, give those books a new life with the Fairytale Endings initiative.
Created by a group of VU Master’s of International Community Development students, this initiative will see the books donated to the Refugee Migrant Children Centre (RMCC) in Sunshine.
“Communities are built around shared stories. These stories can tell us a lot about who we are as a community.”
(Dimitriadou et al 2019)
The recipients of the books will be children of refugees, aged between 3 and 12 years old. The aim is to collect at least 100 books to contribute towards their English-language literacy skills.
Make a donation between 1 and 14 September at one of the following locations:
VU at MetroWest
138 Nicholson Street, Footscray
Open Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
VU Footscray Park Library
Level 2, Building P

All of the books will be gathered and donated to the RMCC by 19 September.
