You are invited to Visible Invisibility or 'A Double Whammy', where four strong women discuss cultural diversity in higher education.

The panel seminar will be co-hosted by the Feminist Research Network and the Community, Identities, Displacement Research Network.

Bring your lunch and enjoy an open and safe space for conversations about creating a more diverse and inclusive work enivronment for all.

Theme: Culturally diverse female academics in higher education

At this lunchtime seminar, we'll unwrap taboos, stories and tips with four strong and inspiring women.

Our panel of female academics will address the following questions:

  • Does diversity mean an inclusive workplace?
  • Does unconscious bias still exist and affect gender and race in academia?
  • What can we do to have a truly diverse and inclusive workplace?


VU academic Dr Siew Fang Law will host an open conversation among these invited panellists:

  • Ms Nyanbol Deng Kuol – PhD candidate, VU
  • Ms Teresa Tija – VU Vice President Planning, Registrar, University Secretary
  • Associate Professor Nana Oishi – Asia Institute, University of Melbourne; Author of Workforce Diversity in Higher Education
  • Dr Teresa De Fazio – Cultural Diversity Manager, VU
