    Overview

    This unit provides an opportunity for pre-service teachers to learn how to create a safe and secure environment when working with children. It supports students to develop positive strategies to collaborate, interact and communicate with all children, families and colleagues in an inclusive way.



    In completing this unit, pre-service teachers will form understandings of both physical and emotional security in various early childhood settings.

    Learning Outcomes

    On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

    1. Create safe and healthy environments for children;
    2. Engage in positive interactions and respectful communication with children, parents, colleagues and other professionals;
    3. Develop an understanding of how to collaborate with all families;
    4. Identify and explore ways to support the inclusion of all children in early childhood education programs.
