Overview

This unit examines the importance of integrity in business and explores key environmental and social issues facing modern business. Through practical case studies and interactive activities, students will investigate the United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), assessing both the opportunities and risks these goals present for today’s businesses. The unit also emphasizes the role of ethical behaviour and environmental accountability, equipping students with the global perspective and ethical mindset essential for future business leaders.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Examine ethical theories, frameworks and business ethics.
  2. Discuss the consequences of unethical behaviour, including its impact on stakeholders, the environment and businesses.
  3. Analyse the influence of social, political, cultural and economic factors on ethical decision-making and sustainable business practices.
  4. Develop ethical solutions to business issues, individually and in teams, proposing ethical, sustainable, and culturally sensitive responses to multi-stakeholder problems through effective communication and technology.
  5. Participate in an academic community through reflective and critical engagement in academic texts and understanding of principles of academic integrity.
