Overview

This unit aims to equip students with the mathematical knowledge and skills essential for further studies in various disciplines, particularly in engineering and science. These units focus on building a strong foundation in areas such as functions, graphs, circular functions and trigonometry and their applications. The goal is to prepare students for the mathematical demands of higher-level courses and to develop their problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of key mathematical concepts and principles across various topics such as functions, graphs, circular functions and trigonometry.
  2. Utilise contemporary and relevant technology for mathematical exploration and problem solving.
  3. Apply mathematical strategies to solve problems in real world contexts.
  4. Communicate ideas using appropriate mathematical language and notation.
  5. Participate in an academic community through reflective and critical engagement in academic texts and understanding of principles of academic integrity.
