Overview

This unit is designed to provide students with support in their field experience in a community placement setting. Students will be supervised in the workplace by an approved supervisor and have an opportunity to develop their skills and competence in community psychology practice and theory.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Exhibit general professional competence commensurate with the role of an advanced provisional psychologist in a community psychology setting, with due appreciation of the legal and ethical issues involved;
  2. Exemplify a high level of professionalism in relation to up-to-date maintenance of log-books, agency files and/or reports in an external agency as well as demonstrate effective communication and critical reflection skills;
  3. Exhibit inter-professional psychological service delivery and collaboration in providing holistic client care;
  4. Implement principles and theories in community psychology practice as it relates to the specific placement agency.
