Overview

This unit introduces students to 3D modelling and animation from a visual effects perspective. It will provide students with foundational knowledge of the visual effects industry. The unit will introduce students with key concepts and production techniques involved in the design, creation and animation of 3D objects and environments for the purpose of visual effects.
Students will critically evaluate appropriate approaches and methods of 3D animation to plan, develop and create 3D elements for visual effects.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Determine appropriate terminology for 3D modelling and animation;
  2. Plan, design and construct 3D models and animations for visual effects;
  3. Identify and rationalise appropriate lighting and textures for 3D applications;
  4. Utilise and navigate appropriate software to implement 3D modelling and animation techniques for visual effects.
