Rebecca Williams brings a fresh approach to her role, helping to develop both the next generation of youth workers, and the young people enrolled at her school.

"Our school and curriculum is designed for young people who are between 12-25 years old who are disengaged from mainstream education. Together we’re challenging the old ways of teaching.

Young people are at the centre of everything we do. Our curriculum is designed to suit the individual needs of each young person – it’s more authentic – like VU. Studying my Youth Work degree at VU, I admit I have a soft spot for the uni!

Having experienced and benefited from practical opportunities during my own degree at VU, I understand the value of these opportunities. Placements produce confident and skilful youth work graduates, who are ready for the workforce before they even graduate.

For our placement students in wellbeing roles, every day is different. We provide an inclusive community and an opportunity to work with young people with various challenges, through our unique mode of education – the theory of radical inclusion.

We’re collaborative and problem-solving, and always engaged. Breaking away from the traditional, we get incredible results in confidence and attitudes."
