VU is working in partnership with Hume City Council to increase educational participation and attainment in Hume, and contribute to community and economic development.

Together, we facilitate lifelong learning by making tertiary education and training opportunities more accessible to Hume residents.

We foresee this partnership comprising several different areas, including:

  • increased access to jobs, skills and education pathways for local people, particularly for young people and migrant communities
  • VU's place-based research positively impacting community wellbeing
  • a sustainable Hume Multiversity, providing educational access and opportunity, such as the Hume Global Learning Centres.

Hume Global Learning Centre in Sunbury

As a result of our partnership with the City of Hume, VU is a proud sponsor of the Hume Global Learning Centre in Sunbury.

Through the centre, we plan to partner with Hume City Council to develop a program of education and community-engagement activities over the next five years.

The Hume Global Learning Centre in Sunbury opened in early 2020 and has the following spaces:

  • library service
  • conference and meeting rooms
  • art gallery
  • business hub
  • training spaces.

We look forward to sharing more about VU’s Education and Community Program at the Centre.
