Designed for home users, this course will give you an understanding of cyber awareness as well as basic network setup and configuration. The course content will focus on a Windows-based operating system.
During this practical, hands-on course, you will gain the following skills.
Introduction to networking concepts:
- connectivity and routing
- wireless connectivity
- your home network.
Introduction to cyber security concepts:
- what is cyber and cyber awareness
- cyber for IoT (Internet of Things) devices
- threats vs risks
- cyber for the home.
Configuring a home router:
- IP ranges
- wireless security and encryption protocols
Upon completion, you will gain the relevant knowledge and skills to implement cybersecurity risk management techniques at home.
This course is designed for individuals who have a keen interest in accessing the skills and knowledge required to promote cyber security in the home and/or small business. You will gain skills in networking concepts, cyber awareness, basic network setup as well as being able to determine risks and threats.
Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.
Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.
Prior to enrolment, all applicants will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to assist with determining eligibility and to identify learning support needs.
