Students studying midwifery in Australia are required to undertake ten Continuity of Care Experiences (CoCE) over the course of their studies. The student is supported to establish, maintain, and conclude a professional relationship while experiencing continuity with individual women throughout the childbearing continuum. Each CoCE involves students attending four antenatal and two postnatal episodes of care and, for the majority of women, the labour and birth. These requirements are in addition to the Work Integrated Learning experiences.
